I’m a big fan of New Year’s resolutions. Sure, those resolutions often fall by the wayside after a few months, but there’s always value in taking a moment to think about what you’d like to work on or improve in your life. Here are a few I’ve been thinking about recently:
1. Create New Traditions: I’m terrible about taking photos throughout the year, and one day I’m worried I’ll look back and regret not having captured more of the lovely moments in my life. So this year, in an effort to change this, I’ll take more photos and at the end of the year put together a photo book of the year’s highlights. Hopefully, this will be something I can continue every year.
Pinhole Press has a wonderful selection of photo-related products, but I especially love their photo book options. Their layouts are more modern and simple than many other photo book companies, and the simplicity really appeals to me. The finished product looks like a lovely coffee table art book and would be a great tradition to start documenting the fun, happy, exciting moments in my life (and yours too!)

2. Find Balance: I tend to have trouble striking a good balance in my life — I either work too hard or slack off completely. I throw myself into some projects and completely neglect others. So this year, with the help of some yoga and some prioritizing, I hope to keep my stress down and my life more balanced.

3. Blog, blog, blog!: It’s been a terrific two months here at Sweet and Lovely Life, and I’m really looking forward to what the new year will bring for our little endeavor here. Hopefully more design, more style, more glamour! We took a break from some of our regular topics this week to focus on our New Year’s series, but next week we’ll be getting back to normal, so stay tuned…

[...] 2. Large Sequin Backdrop: This one takes a little more advance planning — these sequins might be tricky to track down — but, gosh, the end result is so totally awesome! I just sort of want to cover one of the walls of my apartment in these large sequins. Some instant glam “wallpaper.” I’m inspired to throw a New Year’s party next year just so I can make this photo backdrop wall. (It would help me get some pretty, sparkly photos to add to my 2012 photo book resolution.) [...]

Favorite #9: Lovely Snowfall | Sweet and Lovely Life says:

[...] My favorite amount of snow is just a little bit — not so much that it causes problems, but enough that the world looks a little grey and cozy. Luckily for me, we got exactly that much snow yesterday afternoon here in DC, and I went on pretty, snowflake-filled walk in the neighborhood. I even took the opportunity to take a few photos in my neighborhood. (Yay, starting to make good on one of my resolutions!) [...]
